Are my kitties bonded? And how can I know if it's ok to separate them
  • 02
My bf found some kitties about 2 months ago. He adopted one (the dilute calico)and we've been fostering the other (the black one). We already have an adopter for the black baby but we've kept them together this whole time because we needed them to get big enough to get fixed, per the recommendation of the foster I reached out to for support.

The babies have gotten super close - they sleep together, groom each other, and play all the time. They also spend a good time apart though and will do things separately as well. How do I know if they're bonded or just close?! Part of me wants to rescind the other adoption and just keep them both but that wouldn't be a smart decision financially because between my bf and I, we already have 3 animals total. HOW DO I KNOW IF SEPARATING THEM IS OK

xocolie 2 days ago they should stay together. at my rescue if kittens are showing these behaviors, we bond them and they are adopted out together. 5.7k Reply Share ColdFeedLicker · 2 days ago I'd also like to add that it's easier to have 2 cats rather than one because they play with each other, rather than bother you all day if you happen to be tired. 1.6k Reply Share

BackfromtheD 2 days ago Also, kittens learn from each other like grooming or litter habits. 518 Reply Share Hfuxxfyuyuxr. 2 days ago Cats do understand what you say. Mine does. When I tell him no he will run to the other room. There are a lot of things they don't understand, but if you repeat something over and over they will understand what you mean and say to them. 52 Reply Share

Edit: I love everyone here sharing pictures of their copy cats. Venus (left, 3yo) and Nyx (right, 1.5yo) send thier love to you all. We adopted them together and have had them for about 4 months now. They are incredibly talkative and goofy. I love them so much. 8.8k Reply Share

Sure-Background8402 · 2 days ago Can you ask the potential adopter to take the second one on also? Maybe mention that they are bonded and you feel bad seperating them 392 Reply Share

expertgrocer. 2 days ago OP if there is any way in the entire world at all—keep those babies together. like everyone says (because it's true), having two is FAR easier than having one. they keep track of one another, groom one another, play together and keep themselves occupied. we went for one, the black one. his sister sat on my shoe and would not move. we said hell, maybe her brother is her soulmate?

they are inseparable. they love one another fiercely, and provide company to each other. it was easy to have two, much easier than one bored one who wants to ruin your house lol. that's my two cents, with a cat tax of Sir Julius and Lady Naomi (the shoe sitter) included. love from NY

Smooth_Carrot9584 · 2 days ago cats that spent time together tend to be better off kept together, especially since it lowers their chaos level (respectively) as someone mentioned previously, they miss them so for the good of them, try to not separate them 183 Reply Share ...
